Anyhoo, on February 9, 1964, the Beatles played on the Ed Sullivan Show and be came more of a .... Well, more than just a hit, something like a craze...a movement.
If you've ever seen tapes of the show the girls went wild.
Actually, if you watch this video you can see how popular they were before they even set foot on US soil.
This shows the Beatles arrival at JFK airport on the 7 th of February.
Just realized I actually like two Miley Cyrus songs! Well ok I really like....gasp...Party in the USA.
I just kiiiiinda like We Can't Stop.
Although the vid for We Can't Stop is not so great. Too random and going for shock. The vid is like a car wreck. Disturbing yet fascinating.
But I must admit, Miley does look good. More grown up but I gotta say she comes off really .... Ho-ish?? Lol okay I guess I should spell it whore-ish but that seemed so harsh.
So why do I like Party in the USA....who knows, well actually the lyrics for the chorus are everyone's experience:
So I put my hands up
They're playing my song,
And the butterflies fly away
I'm noddin' my head like yeah
Movin' my hips like yeah
I got my hands up,
They're playin' my song
I know I'm gonna be OK
Yeah, it's a party in the USA
Yeah, it's a party in the USA
Come on.... how many of us have been somewhere and then "Your Song" comes on and you start noddin' your head and movin' your hips? Right, it's an experience we can all relate to. So yeah, I like that song.
Lol. I loved when she said "and a JayZ song was on". And I'm thinking "Whoa, Miley listens to JayZ?" Turns out, no she doesn't or at least didn't. When she mentioned Britney, I just thought "Uh no!" and inserted another name.
Although, I'll let you in on a little secret....come closer....I do like at least one Britney song. I even own it. Shhhhh! Keep it to yourself.
As for We Wont Stop, well, like I said, I kinda like the song, but it's not one I'm going to find myself singing spontaneously. It's kind of a mellower Party in the USA but the video is waaaay different! Much raunchier....some might say more "adult". I love Miley's new look in it. The shorter hair dyed blond and the more grown up make up but other than that ..... I wished she'd get the sneer off of her face. As for the song itself, the lyrics are once again kinda universal. Not all of them but the:
Its our party we can do what we want
Its our party we can say what we want
Its our party we can love who we want
We can kiss who we want
We can live how we want
Yeah, I can see how that would be appealling. And the first verse....
Red cups and sweaty bodies everywhere Hands in the air like we don't care
Cause we came to have so much fun now
Got somebody here might get some now
If you're not ready to go home Can I get a "Hell, no!"? (Hell no)
Cause we gonna go all night
Till we see the sunlight alright
Lets admit it, the hightlighted lines have been said or sung for years. And then there's this line:
So la da di da di, we like to party
Helloooooo...... shades of Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick!! Y'all do remember that...right?? Anyhoo, end of rant...or whatever! Y'all have a Happy New Year! and remember....
La-di-da-di, we like to party
We don't cause trouble and we don't bother nobody!
La Di Da Di with Snoop Dogg and Doug E. Fresh........start at 1:24 to just hear song
Here comes the sun, Here comes the sun, and I say, It's alright.... dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah dah, daaaaaaah
Huh...it's hard to do those instrumental parts in writing....but I try.
Yes! Finally! At Last! The sun was really out there working today. It's been out now and again but not really warming me up til today. (Yes, yes, it's all about me.)
Today was breezy...okay maybe more like windy but the sun was out there in force.
'Course, you know, being human, I'll be kvetching about the heat when the temps get above....hmmmm..90degrees or so. But for now...the sun is my friend!!!!
So let's sing (y'all knew it was comin') one of my favorite sun songs..Everybody SING!!! The sun is a mass of incandescent gas.....
In honor of my ...FINALLY...packing up my stuff again, and moving...I'm playing all of my favorite traveling, moving, etc. songs. Here are the first songs that came to mind....more tomorrow.
Pssst! Anyone notice that all the traveling songs seem to be by men? Is it just me? Or maybe there are some by women and I just don't know them...pooh.
A young girl was trudging along a mountain path, trying to reach her grandmother's house. It was bitter cold, and the wind cut like a knife. When she was within sight of her destination, she heard a rustle at her feet.
Looking down, she saw a snake. Before she could move, the snake spoke to her. He said, "I am about to die. It is too cold for me up here, and I am freezing. There is no food in these mountains, and I am starving. Please put me under your coat and take me with you."
"No," replied the girl. "I know your kind. You are a rattlesnake. If I pick you up, you will bite me, and your bite is poisonous."
"No, no," said the snake. "If you help me, you will be my best friend. I will treat you differently."
The little girl sat down on a rock for a moment to rest and think things over. She looked at the beautiful markings on the snake and had to admit that it was the most beautiful snake she had ever seen.
Suddenly, she said, "I believe you. I will save you. All living things deserve to be treated with kindness."
The little girl reached over, put the snake gently under her coat and proceeded toward her grandmother's house.
Within a moment, she felt a sharp pain in her side. The snake had bitten her.
"How could you do this to me?" she cried. "You promised that you would not bite me, and I trusted you!"
"You knew what I was when you picked me up," hissed the snake as he slithered away.
(course in my version the man/woman/child then uses her last bits of strength to beat/stomp the crap out of the snake before she dies...saying if I gotta go so do you......apparently I'm not all that nice)
Here's the musical version of this story. Love this song but not too crazy about the graphics!
On her way to work one morning Down the path along side the lake A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew "Oh well," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"
"Take me in tender woman Take me in, for heaven's sake Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake.
Now she wrapped him all cozy in a coverture of silk And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk Now she hurried home from work that night as soon as she arrived She found that pretty snake she'd taken to had been revived.
"Take me in, oh tender woman Take me in, for heaven's sake Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried "But if I hadn't brought you in, by now you might have died" Now she stroked his pretty skin again and then kissed and held him tight But instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite!
"Take me in, oh tender woman Take me in for heaven's sake Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake.
"Now I saved you," cried the woman And you've bit me, even why? And you know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die" "Ah shut up, silly woman," said that reptile with a grin “Now you knew darn well I was a snake before you brought me in "
Please, take me in, oh tender woman Take me in, for heaven's sake Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake, sighed the snake
“Take me in tender woman “Come on in you pretty snake… Come on in, yeah, come on in you pretty snake…
I love Lambert Hendricks and Ross! Semonette is a fab song....I'm not all that crazy about the images used in the vid but just do what I do and listen to the music.
Here's LH&R live in 1961, with O.C. Smith, singing "Everyday I Have the Blues".
This is Jon Hendricks reencarnation of the Lambert, Hendricks & Ross trio live on Vitoria (July 19th 1991). They're singing "Come On Home". The lyrics were written by Jon Hendricks. Vocals by Jon Hendrick, Kevin Fitzgerald Burke, Aria Hendricks (Jon's daughter) and Judith Hendricks (Jon's wife).
Alright y'all! Time for some good ole blues!! Not that I have the blues...nope, I'm more likely to have the Oranges! This is from the "Three Mo' Tenors" special...I love these guys!
I love this song! It suddenly popped into my head this evening. I enjoy a good musical and FAME was pretty good. I forget when it came out...in the 80's I think (I don't feel like looking it up, sorry). Enjoy this song and sing along :-)
