Movie Marathon Suggestion #1 - Clue, Murder by Death, And Then There Were None

So, it's the holidays.
Normally, I don't watch much tv and definitely not many movies but I had some extra time on my hands and ended up watching one or two of my fave movies.

Yeah, I rarely watch new ones cause my favorites are so much fun.

Anyhoo, I started thinking about movies that go together and decided to put up a few movie marathon suggestions. (Yep, I apparently have nothing better to do)

Why do I think these movies go together?

Because in all of these films, there are a group of people who mysteriously come together at some creepy house and suddenly folks start dying.
(...and what do we learn from this? If you're invited for a weekend at a creepy house and you don't know why, heck, even if you do know why ....DON'T GO!!)

All three movies are mysteries. The first two are comedies and the last is a drama. You may have guessed that I really like mysteries, yep, and I definitely prefer comedies.

Movie #1
Clue  a 1985 Comedy/Mystery about Six guests who are invited to a strange house and must cooperate to solve a murder mystery. Loosely, based on the game Clue.

This guy put together a youtube vid called Clue the Movie in 5.5 Minutes. I must say he did a good job. My only complaint is the horrible background music he added. Very annoying.

 Movie #2
Murder by Death

a 1976 Comedy/Mystery written by Niel Simon about Five famous literary detective characters and their sidekicks who are invited to a bizarre mansion to solve an even stranger mystery.
I loved this one because of the parody of some of my favorite detectives....Sam Spade, Nick Charles, Miss Marple, Hercule Piorot and okay the last guy confuses me. Not sure if he's supposed to be Charlie Chan or what???

Movie #3
And Then There Were None, a 1945 movie, based on a novel by Agatha Christie, about a group of ten people who are invited to an isolated island, only to be killed one-by-one.

Omg! Here's the whole flippin' movie!

Hope you decide to watch a few of these. They're lots of fun! Tootles!

16 ways to wear 1 Sweater!

Okay, I just happened to stumble across this video and I was really impressed with this girls creativity so I thought I would share it. Admittedly I could not wear half of these styles but some of you could and it does stretch your wardrobe (also your sweater)!

Barbershop Quartet Day

Apr 11th is Barbershop Quartet Day! Yea!!!
Yep I actually like Barbershop Quartets and the choruses.
I used to sing in a Sweet Adeline Chorus (in Vienna, Va) a few years back. That was FUN!!

Just for a little history of the holiday....it commemorates the gathering of 26 persons at Tulsa, OK, Apr 11, 1938, and the founding there of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.

I know y'all wanted to know that:-P

Sweet Adeline Chorus

Who says you need for people for a quartet?

I love this movie! Buffalo Bills from the Music Man

12 Angry Men

Just watched, for the first time, the movie Twelve Angry Men, the black and white version produced in 1957.
Wow, that was really good. I love the old movies. Especially the black and white ones.
This movie was full of stars....Henry Fonda (who produced it), Jack Klugman (my man Quincy), Lee J. Cobb, E. G. Marshall, Martin Balsam, Jack Warden, John Fiedler, Edward Binns, Joseph Sweeney, Ed Begley, George Voskovec and Robert Webber.

For those of you who may not have seen the movie, it's basically about:
A jury made up of 12 men as they deliberate the guilt or innocence of a defendant on the basis of reasonable doubt. The story begins after the closing arguments have been presented to the judge. The question they are deciding is whether the defendant, a teenage boy from a city slum, murdered his father. The jury is further instructed that a guilty verdict will be accompanied by a mandatory death sentence.
The plot of the film revolves around their difficulty in reaching a unanimous verdict, mainly due to several of the jurors' personal prejudices.

(this info came from Wikipedia)

Anyhoo, I highly recommend this movie which, BTW, you can find on Youtube, of course.

Here's the movie trailer:

Here comes the sun!

Here comes the sun,
Here comes the sun,
and I say,
It's alright....
dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah dah, daaaaaaah

Huh...it's hard to do those instrumental parts in writing....but I try.

Yes! Finally! At Last! The sun was really out there working today. It's been out now and again but not really warming me up til today. (Yes, yes, it's all about me.)

Today was breezy...okay maybe more like windy but the sun was out there in force.

'Course, you know, being human, I'll be kvetching about the heat when the temps get above....hmmmm..90degrees or so.
But for now...the sun is my friend!!!!

So let's sing (y'all knew it was comin') one of my favorite sun songs..Everybody SING!!!
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas.....

A Rose by any other name........

Are you bored with life? Then throw yourself into some work you believe in with all your heart, live for it, die for it, and you will find happiness that you had thought could never be yours.
Dale Carnegie

BORED:
Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: uninterested
Synonyms: blasé, disinterested, dull, fatigued, inattentive, sick and tired, spiritless, tired, turned off
Antonyms: enthusiastic, excited, exhilarated, interested

I try not to say that I'm bored. 'Cause usually boredom is not boredom. If you're bored with one activity, you can usually move on to another activity and dispel the boredom. But lasting boredom is generally something else.

Maybe I'm restless...in need of a new something...new job, new place to live, new craft activity (I really do NEED more yarn) or just new books to read.

Oh well, at least thinking about being bored keeps me from being too bored.
Go figure!

Ooooo...what a lovely date!

Okay, so I really didn't have anything to say I just noted that the date of today is pretty cool....well interesting.

02/20/2010
I don't think it means anything, just thought it looked interesting.
Actually, before I put my glasses on, I thought it said 20/20/2010 which would have been even better but of course impossible. But today's date isn't bad.

Just another random thought...aren't you glad I shared it??

Love, Laughter, Peace and Blessings!

I Sing the Body Electric!......Musical Monday

I love this song! It suddenly popped into my head this evening.
I enjoy a good musical and FAME was pretty good.
I forget when it came out...in the 80's I think (I don't feel like looking it up, sorry).
Enjoy this song and sing along :-)

Now they're just being silly!!!

Good Grief!!
First there was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, it came out in April of this year and I read it (here's my blog on that book).

It's actually a fun, though strange, book, especially if you know P&P backwards and forwards.

But noooow....we have Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange.

Just when you think it's safe to go back to the bookstore!

Apparently Ms. Grange starts her story where Pride and Prejudice ends and introduces a dark Darcy family curse.
Okay, like....how the heck did we miss that the man was a vampyre???
I'm sure she explains it.

Ms Grange also wrote Mr. Darcy's Diary which I have read. It was okay not my favorite Mr Darcy background book. The best of those might be Pamela Aidan's trilogy of books in the Fitzwilliam Darcy: Gentleman series. I enjoyed Ms. Aidan's books, there are three of them, and read them simultaneously while rereading P&P.

Mr Darcy, Vampyre comes out in August. I doubt if I will be able to stop myself from reading it. Hopefully it will be as fun and lighthearted as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

I wonder what's next???? Elizabeth Bennet-Darcy, Werewolf????

Cary Grant as James Bond???

I love Cary Grant!
I had no idea that he had been considered for the part of James Bond.
Wow!
I mean, I can not at this point think of anyone as being the James Bond except for Sean Connery but I bet Cary would have been smooooooooth!

I especially loved him in:
The Philadelphia Story (1940 my favorite!)
His Girl Friday (1940)
The Bishop's Wife (1947)
To Catch a Thief (1955)
An Affair to Remember (1957)

So check out his Bond like scenes from various movies.
